“House Music Specialist”
The term House Music has a deep resonance with Ejay.
Ejay started his musical life in the San Francisco Bay Area listening and dancing to Jazz, R&B and Hip Hop. With his roots already in deep soul music, it’s no surprise that his first experience with House music in the early ’90s created a lasting impression. In fact, it was a life changing experience. In 1994 Ejay began mixing records for the San Francisco dance community.
In 1996, Ejay relocated to Boulder, CO. where he fully devoted himself to the pursuit of House music. He gathered other passionate DJ’s, dancers, artist, friends and family and founded a collective called the Humble Souls. They have become known for their free outdoor full moon and Sunday afternoon gatherings, now a musical focal point for this area. Humble Souls give Colorado a chance to have events rich with music and vibe, but not powered by monetary gain. For these reasons, Humble Souls has become a source of enjoyment to locals who are ready to be immersed in the music.
By the end of 1997 Ejay had already established himself as a successful DJ at the local clubs and parties. 1998 was the breakout year for Ejay as he was selected to be the premier resident house DJ at Soma, one of Colorado’s most respected nightclubs. For four years Ejay was the resident at Soma’s longest running house night ‘MOVIN’ Fridays’ Friday nights where known for it’s eclectic blend of House grooves and powerful dance floor vibe.
Due to Ejay’s love for deep underground music, he’s moved on where he could keep building his ideal vision and has started a new night @ Trilogy called ‘breathe deep’ along with his partner Angelina providing decor and atmosphere to set the vibe intended for a deep headonistic night.
Ejay has held monthly residencies with King Britt, Mark Farina and has played with some of the top house DJs and producers around the world. Working along side with these DJ’s and producers has inspired Ejay to become involved with the production aspect of music.
Ejay is also affiliated with Mile High House, a collective of local DJ’s, producers, visual artists, web designers, promoters, and live musicians. MHHP takes Colorado music into new markets, promoting local talent nationally. According to Ejay, his largest inspiration for music comes from local artists in Colorado.
