Hydrophonic

Aka Brad Cavender, Hydrophonic has had a long history of ultraworldly influences. First and foremost are his cousins, Doug Cavender (ilk) and Brian Cavender (Seafoam). It was they who first corrupted his fragile mind following a Hoard show in 1992. It was then that they listened to the Orb’s  Adventures Beyond Outer World. Having heard the Orb’s adventures, he was driven to visit the outer world on his own - by producing music. Good to release the mind from concrete thinking he says. Yessirrreeee. Here in the real world, djs regularly deliver the people into a soulful ultraworld boogie through Hydrophonic’s own musical adventures.

He started producing some six years ago, starting with a drum machine and synthesizer that triggered each other. He’s since graduated to some software and old-school synthesizers creating warm, atmospheric sounds driven by the base. Musical influences cover a wide spectrum, including: Stevie Wonder, Fila Brazilia, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Parliament, Terry Francis, Marvin Gaye and Depeche Mode. He currently has two recordings Catflap 001 came out to in 1998. In February of this year he was the guy to get lorise recordings (SF) off to and auspicious start with lorise 001. We’re all looking forward to fall releases on lorise recordings, and maybe, just maybe one of the first milehighhouse recordings releases. Look for these intricate beats with the soul of house.
