ILK

Bio
ilk (ilk), n. 1. of the same name, class, or kind. 2. denvertechno.
Picture it: It’s the late 80’s, you and your best friend are perfecting your 21 Jump Street hair. Radio’s blaring something by the Miami Sound Machine, and the Dodge Daytona’s ready to go. This, you believe, is the life.
Down the street, two kids are hardly convinced. A small station out of New Mexico plays an 808 State track entitled “Pacific,” and Denver’s music scene becomes pregnant. In 5 years time, Ilk will peform their first Live P.A.
Originally a collaboration of Doug Cavender and Mark Orosz, Ilk cranked up a beat-driven collision of Industrial, Punk, and Hip Hop flavors. Now, Ilk (made up of just Doug Cavender), produces a much tougher braid of techno, trip hop, and nu-breaks. Subtle layers of house and dub make appearances as well. Atmospheric synths create a background structure for raw, dirty, mind-shaking melodies.
With plenty of milehighhouse focused on the deeper beats, Ilk balances it out with rawness, technical production, and having been that kid down the street. Ilk is a collaborator and engineer for many producers in Colorado. His experience and techniques are shared among many in the region. Ilk is also a graphic designer and producer of many mhhp propaganda tools.
Ilk is also the guy who invented the “alien” Jesus fish emblem.
For the upcoming year Ilk is planning a mini tour of the US for his Live PA set to promote his three singles.
