Miss Audry

Her love for music became apparent as early as age 5, when “little” Miss Audry began shakin’ her thang and singing along to her parents 70s funk and disco tunes. Though family picnics and birthday parties set the stage for her early performances, it wasn’t until some years later that the sounds of house music would shape her career as a DJ and House Diva…

In the early 1990s, a crew of DJs and promoters dubbed the “Energy Posse” were busy building a new after-hours scene in her hometown of Denver centered around underground warehouse parties. Though she’d heard about raves before- it was only when a few of her friends ended up with some “EP” fliers after checking out a Moby show that she happened to stumble into the late night scene.

Many late nights, glow-sticks & energy drinks later, in 1994, Audry found herself befriending some of the same DJs and promoters that had first introduced her to underground parties. It just so happened that a DJ friend named John Chamie was looking for a singer in his band called “Masterplan” around the same time. After an informal audition, Audry nailed the spot and became the band’s new songstress covering tunes like Electribe 101’s “If It’s Alright With You.”

The band proved to be an excellent training ground for her young career in the spotlight. Performing at places like Denver’s Ogden and Gothic Theaters helped her find a new confidence. Between performances, the band’s basement studio allowed her to record some tracks for her singing demo.

It was then that a DJ friend, Greg Eversoul, mentioned that he was looking to sell his DJ gear. She had tried her skills on friends’ tables before, but she knew that jumping at this opportunity would help her become a serious DJ.

After scaping together little more than $600 dollars, Audry found herself in proud posession of 2 Technics 1200s and a mixer for her newfound hobby. It didn’t hurt that talents like DJ Fury and Vitamin D were willing to help her out as she concentrated for the next few months on fine-tuning her skills.

Her “big break” finally came when friend Vitamin D asked her to play a short set with him at Denver’s “Club Synergy.” Taking up the challenge and barely able to steady the needle on the record, it was then that Audry realized she had found the perfect way to express her true love for house music….

The rest is of course her-story…
